REPORTED SIGHTINGS

The fact that there were approximately 2548 sightings of UFOs reported to the National UFO Reporting Center in 1999 and, as of Sept. 2000, 1548 sightings reported in 2000 speaks loudly of the fact that we are not alone in this Universe. The "OTHER WORLDS" series, though written as fiction, brings to the written page the possibility that Earth and its residents will be visited by those who live in other dimensions and other worlds.

Below you will find a small sampling of newspaper articles, statistics, photographs, and reports that might be of interest.  There are thousands of sightings that go unreported and thousands more that receive only minimal interest by the media. What you will read below is only the tiniest shred of evidence that supports the belief that there is a great possibility that this world may soon be visited by others. More information will be added to this page as it is brought to our attention ... keeping in mind that it would be impossible to publish all accounts and sightings within this small format.

MYSTERIOUS LIGHTS REPORTED OVER OCEAN IN NEWPORT, OREGON

For Peggy Standifer, the evening of Sept. 6 began just like any other normal night.  The 32-year-old Newport woman had dined with her mother and stepfather and was ready to return to her own home when the evening took a decidedly bizarre twist.

"It was about 8:15 p.m. and the sun was setting," recalled Peggy during a recent interview at her mother's north Newport home.  "We had finished our desserts and had the blinds up."

Perched on a hill, high above Newport's Agate Beach community, Judy Standifer-Eager and Bob Eager's house offers a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean, especially from the dining room window.

"We were looking out at the view of the ocean when, all of the sudden, we saw a light," said Peggy, making a circle about the size of an apple with her hands.  "It was about this big, and it almost looked like the front of an airplane, but then we saw that it had three lights on it.  They were green, red, and white lights and were very bright."

For the next 30 minutes, the three family members gathered at the dining room window, binoculars in their hands, amazed by what they were seeing.  "Eventually, the object moved toward the horizon, but we could still see the lights," recalled Peggy.  "Then, when it got to the horizon, it just lit up the sky.  It made a horizontal flash of light across the horizon."

The family agreed that it was unlike anything they had ever seen before.  "And believe me, we've watched a lot of beautiful sunsets from this house," said Judy, who has lived in the house with her husband for four years.

Intrigued by what they had witnessed, the family called the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Newport.  "They told us that they hadn't been doing any maneuvers that evening and told us to call 911," said Peggy.  "We didn't call 911 at first because we didn't want to see like people from a National Enquirer headline!"

Still, the family was amazed by the intensity of the lights and the jerky, forward-backward movement of the object, which seemed to be in the shape of an oval.

"We talked about it for hours," said Peggy.  "And then, around 10:45 p.m., my mom was closing the window blinds.  She said, 'Peggy, come here!'"  Returning to the window, Peggy and her mother stared at each other in amazement.

"We couldn't believe it," said Peggy.  "It was back, but had moved a little bit to the north."

In the dark night sky, the object was not the size of a star and still had the same intense red, green, and white lights on it, said Peggy.  "We could tell that the lights were flashing, but it didn't look like an aircraft," she added.

Bob Eager, Peggy's stepfather, nodded his head in agreement.  "It wasn't an airplane or a helicopter," said Bob, who had seen his fair share of aircraft while fighting for the U.S. Army in World War II.  "It wasn't like anything we've ever seen before."

Calling the Coast Guard once more, the family was assured that no maneuvers were going on in that area.  "Again, they told us that we really should call 911," said Peggy.  "So, this time, we did call."

In a few minutes, an officer from the Newport Police Department arrived at Judy and Bob's home to check out the mysterious lights that were hovering over the ocean, straight out about 20 or 30 miles from the Beverly Beach area.

Two more Newport officers responded, and the three men watched the lights in the sky, then left, saying that they were 'going to get a better view,' said Peggy.

When she checked with the police two days later, Peggy was told that a report had been filed which concluded that the object "was not an aircraft," and that the officers "did not know what it was."

Curious, Peggy called the News-Times to find out whether others in the area had seen the strange lights.

"We were so amazed by what we saw that we wanted to know if others saw the same thing that night," she explained.

In search of answers, the family phoned the Federal Aviation Administration in McMinnville and was told that no airplanes or helicopters - military or otherwise - were reported in the area on the evening of Sept. 6.  On Friday, two days after the sighting, Peggy called the National Reporting Center for unidentified flying objects, which is located in Seattle.  Contacted on Monday morning, Peter Davenport, Director of the National UFO Reporting Center, said he remembered the family's call.

According to Davenport, the reporting center received four other reports that same evening, one of which came from Laguna Hills, California and resembled the Standifer-Eager's description.  "The other three were probably not UFO's," added Davenport, who said he could not confirm that the family saw a UFO, but that he was "impressed by their sincerity."

Bob Eager moved to this country at the age of 10 with his Dublin, Ireland-born family.  He spent his later childhood in Washington with his five siblings and, in his late teens, joined the United States Army, ready for World War II.  He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, battled Japanese soldiers on islands off Alaska, and witnessed the Allied Forces' joyous celebrations when the announcement came that the war was over.

After retiring to Washington, Eager worked for the Hanford Nuclear Reservation for more than 20 years and, like many people of his generation, retired to the Oregon coast four years ago.

He and Judy share a passion for the ocean that has carried over to Peggy.  A former nanny to disabled children and a respite care worker for the State of Washington, 32-year-old Peggy moved to Newport four months ago to be near her two greatest loves - the ocean and her mother.  She is currently preparing for her first year at Oregon Coast Community College and hopes to become a psychologist.

Judy worked as an apartment manager in Washington and still receives mail from the residents who formed close friendships with her.

Their experience has broadened their minds, said Peggy, and made her into a firm UFO believer.  "It was unlike anything I've ever experienced on this earth," she said.  "And I truly believe that it was a UFO."

Bob agreed.  "I would swear on the Bible that it was a UFO," he said.

The family is far from being alone in their beliefs.  According to the National UFO Reporting Center, there have been more than 20 official reports of mysterious objects in the Oregon sky during the past few months, two of which were seen by people in the Lincoln City area.

"We just want to know if anyone else saw those same lights in the sky that night," said Peggy.  "And we want to find out what we saw."

Jim Hawley, Lincoln County emergency services head, said he had no explanation for the sighting.

STATISTICS

(as reported by the National UFO Reporting Center)

Due to my extreme interest in the matter of UFOs and alien contact, I spent quite a bit of time analyzing material that I found on the Internet.  One of the sites where I found most of the extensive statistics was at the above-named site.  Here are some brief facts that you might find interesting.  Because one of my most major sightings was in Arizona, I chose to focus on the Arizona statistics.

Major Arizona Sighting  (March 13, 1997)
30 households reported seeing this craft to the above-mentioned agency.
Hundreds more saw the craft but did not report it.
Of the 30 who reported seeing the craft, 25 of the reports were within one hour
    of each other.
The sightings were reported by witnesses from Phoenix all the way to Kingman,
    Arizona.
Major television and radio stations reported the event.

Other Arizona Sightings
On August 15, 2000, 11 sightings were reported by witnesses from Chandler,
Gilbert, Phoenix, and Mesa.  10 of the sightings were reported between
    8:00 p.m. and 9:20 p.m.

On August 12, 2000, 5 sightings were reported by 5 different households in the
    Chandler/Gilbert area.

On July 12, 2000, there were 10 sightings reported.  7 of the sightings were in
    Gilbert, Arizona.

On February 22, 2000, 3 people reported seeing a cylinder-shaped UFO above
Prescott Valley.  All 3 reports described the craft as cylindrical.  All 3 reports
stated that the time of the sighting was 6:00 p.m.

In the months of July and August, 1999, there were 64 reported sightings in
    Arizona alone.

These are the briefest of details.  There are thousands upon thousands of sightings that are not listed here and many more than that which are not reported to the above-named agency.  Indeed, I myself have had dozens of sightings and have never reported any of them.  Given the above minuscule statistics alone, there can be no doubt that we are not alone in our Universe.  Even if there was a way to explain away even one fourth of the statistics, we would still be faced with the fact that there are beings from other worlds and/or other dimensions sharing our atmosphere.

Rational thinking suggests that it would be in the best interest of our world to know our "neighbors."  Who are they?  Where are they from?  Why are they here?  What are their intentions?  To a large degree, as a society we have left the task of answering these questions up to our government officials.  In my personal opinion, it is not in our best interest, nor is it the best solution.  Judging by the past history of such matters I think it is safe to say that government officials are, for the most part, not forthcoming with any information that they might have.  I believe the task falls to each of us to explore our world and to come to our own conclusions.

A BRIEF SAMPLING OF REPORTS

"Strange "V" formation in morning sky over the Skykomish Valley.  Heading east on Highway 2, I observed a white or silver formation in the southeast, several degrees above the horizon.  It looked at first glance as a comet with dual tails, a sort of "V" shape.  Looking just like a "V" with the point on the bottom.  It did not appear to be moving, but as I continued driving east it disappeared below the horizon and out of my view as I got closer to it.  I then called my neighbor who I thought may have a better unobstructed view from his home but he was unable to see it.  I then drove to his home a mere 2 minutes after the sighting and acquired a pair of binoculars and he and I went back out on the highway to the location at which I first observed it but it was no longer visible.  This was the most unusual and unexplained thing I have ever seen."

"Three small point of lights almost like stars were directly overhead.  There was no noise.  They were in a perfect unilateral triangle for about five minutes and then the light top light moved down and to the left and they formed an isosceles triangle for about five minutes.  They remained stationary directly overhead the entire time.  They were below a cirrus cloud layer."
Occurred:  9/13/2000
Time:  17:00
Location:  Everett, WA

"Six triangle shaped crafts flew over White River High School at about 12 noon on Sept., 19, 2000.  They hovered for about 15 minutes then they just took off in a bright light and disappeared.  There were six crafts that were a metallic grey.  They were about 25 feet in circumference."
Occurred:  9/19/2000
Time:  1200
Location:  Buckley, WA

"A flattened out "V" made up of many pinpoints of light glided silently, smoothly, but quickly overhead.  I saw something out of the corner of my eye.  I first thought it was the "V" formation of a flock of birds.  I cupped my ear to listen but it made absolutely no sound.  It glided smoothly but quickly from the north toward a south-southeasterly direction.  It spanned the portion of sky from Hercules to Capricornus (where I lost if behind the trees) in about 5 seconds.  It was shaped like a flattened out "V."  At arm's length it was about 3" across and about 1" long.  It's shape was made up of many pinpoints of white lights, not brilliant, but as bright as the average star.  It was a perfectly clear night, the moon had not risen yet.  I was outside just gazing at how spectacular the Milky Way looked when I saw it.  My background:  37 year-old male.  I own a hardware store.  I have a college degree in marketing and management.  I am an avid starwatcher.  I own a telescope.  I do not believe in extraterrestrial life but I am 'miffed' by what I just saw."

QUOTE BY MAJOR GORDON COOPER, ASTRONAUT

In a taped interview with J. L. Ferrando:
"For many years I have lived with a secret, in a secrecy imposed on all specialist in astronautics.  I can now reveal that every day, in the USA, our radar instruments capture objects of form and composition unknown to us.  And there are thousands of witness reports and a quantity of documents to prove this, but nobody wants to make them public."

Below is an artistic rendition of the craft that hovered over myself and two of my friends. We were in the

area of Payson, Arizona. The craft stayed for approximately 45 minutes. The episode is described in

"CALLED," the first volume in OTHER WORLDS: The Series. The full story, told by the contactees is below.

Payson, Arizona - Encounter

"The plan wasn't to go down to the river and wait for a craft to appear, that's for certain. The three of us had simply decided that spending some time at the river together would be a good idea. We hadn't been there very long before, almost as one unit, we all turned and looked up. It was almost like we had been silently called. This massive, massive craft was directly overhead. It hadn't made a sound. There was no hint that it was coming. It simply appeared and took over the sky above us.

Never in my life did I imagine I'd see anything like this. It was surrounded by circular rainbows, which is impossible, but that was the way it was. And the rest of the sky had rainbows scattered around like clouds. It was the most awesome, incredible thing I've ever seen. And this craft was huge. It was so close it felt like we could reach out and touch it. I certainly wanted to. It was compelling, life-altering.

I had always had a trace of doubt about aliens ... whether they existed or not. This experience left me without a shred of doubt, without a shadow of doubt. It was one of the most total heart experiences I've ever had. It changed me profoundly. I wish everyone could experience what we did that day. There's no fear in me now. There's no doubt. If they were here to harm us, they were close enough to do it that day ... and they didn't. I could feel the impact of their thoughts and feelings for us. The day changed me. There's no doubt about it.

We were sitting on the bank of the river and then suddenly there it was. We couldn't have moved even if we'd wanted to. The incredible impact that it had on us almost paralyzed us. We were frozen to the spot, captivated by the energy of the thing and the beings who were inside.

This visitation, that's how I think of it, changed all three of us. It will impact every day of my future. I believe that each of us was affected differently. Perhaps it was meant to be that way. Maybe the beings on the craft meant to touch the secret parts of each of us, hoping to impact each of us in the greatest way possible. They succeeded. My life will never be the same."
~~ Lynne Shelton, Contactee and Witness

"They (aliens) had always been real to me. But this experience, seeing that fantastic craft and all of those rainbows ... things that aren't 'possible' ... it did something to my inner being. It was life-changing for me. The effect of it will last forever. It was beautiful, magnificent. I was torn though. Part of me wanted to leave with them but then the other part was worried about how my husband would get along without me. I wanted to go but then there was a part of me that was afraid to go, afraid of the unknown. I honestly didn't know if we were going to be taken or not because they were so close.
I was just awe-struck. The artist in me was trying to take in all of the visions at the same time and I was pretty overwhelmed by it all. I felt really, really bad for Lauren when they left though. She was just devastated at their leaving. Heartbroken, I would have to say. I remember everything as clear as if it happened yesterday and, quite honestly, I wish we could have the experience again. As hard as it was for all of us to deal with our individual emotions, I think we'd all relish the chance to have them that close again."
~~ Julie Williams, Contactee and Witness

"When it was suggested that I write something about this incident, along with Lynne and Julie, it took me a long time to think about it. I went through a tremendous amount of emotion during and after this visitation. Bringing it back to the surface of my mind brought all of the emotion back as well.
I've been honored by numerous contacts from alien beings. I've seen quite a few craft through the years, of various shapes and sizes. I've been visited by holograms of aliens, been taken aboard two different craft an uncountable amount of times, and been honored by many, many visits from members of different civilizations.

But this event was different for me. I had had a visitation not too long before this event. It was incredible and had changed me in numerous ways. But it didn't touch me the way this visit did. On some subconscious level, and I still can't put an entire 'label' to it, this contact was meant to take me to an emotional level within myself where I had never gone before. It succeeded.

In order to write about it, I had to return to that level within myself. If I was forced to put only one word to this experience, I would have to use the word 'altered.' I was altered in some way. I was changed in a way that cannot be 'un-changed.' I had to admit to myself that I was never going to be at peace until I accepted the deepest level of friendship with these beings that can be reached on any level ... in any dimension. They were asking me to share my entire being with them on all levels. They were asking me to trust them. They were asking me to believe in them. And they gave me Lynne and Julie as validation. (And Don, Lynne's husband, who we 'flew' home to in order to ask him if he saw them too so that we would know the three of us weren't under some type of mass hypnosis. And, yes, he saw them as well.)

What it all means I can't really say yet. I had always felt that I trusted them. I knew that I believed in them. I thought of us all as friends and even went to the extent of thinking that perhaps we were all on the same 'mission' together. When this visit occurred they asked me for something more. Again ... I haven't put a name to it yet. The part of it that impacted me the most, and impacts me the most even now as I write this several years after the fact, is that they asked me for something very deep within me and then left me behind to deal with it.

During this visit I accepted them to the degree that I was absolutely and totally heartbroken when they left. I was devastated. How did they touch me so deeply in such a short period of time? What did they say? What did they do? And what did they ask of me? I believe I will only find out through the walking of the clearest and best-intentioned path that I can walk. I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I will find the answer when the path is finally complete."
